August 21st, 2024

Indians crave practicality in whatever service or product they use. This is why, nowadays, almost all of the brands do as per the wants of the Indian consumers. In the Indian Automotive Industry, where we belong, the most practical product is usually stated to be a 7-seater Car/SUV. These 7-seater Car/SUVs are popular and most preferred because of their comfortable ride quality, large space for both Passengers & Luggage and Enthusiastic Driving feel. So, to make your work easy, we have listed the Seven Best 7-seater Cars/SUVs to buy in 2024.

7 - Tata Safari EV

Tata Safari EV

Tata Safari EV has not been launched in India yet, and the reason we have included this upcoming Electric SUV is because it has the most probability of being the best 7-seater SUV in the entry-level Premium segment. The Safari EV will compete against Mahindra’s upcoming XUV.e8, which is the Electrified version of the XUV 7OO.

The Safari EV will be based on the new Acti.ev platform that has been developed by Tata Motors for their Born Electric vehicles. The SUV will possibly be bigger in size with the biggest Battery Pack ever in any Indian-made EV as well. We expect it to have a 65-75 kWh Battery pack, which will make the SUV run for over 600 km at one full charge.

The Safari EV will also host a long list of features, like all of the other Tata.ev SUVs - Nexon EV, Curvv EV, and Punch EV. It will have bright-colored interiors with dual-tone leather finish in various areas. It will have a 12.25-inch Infotainment screen to provide all the information and convenience. It will also host Tata’s Arcade.ev that lets to play games, watch OTT platforms, etc while the EV is being charged. The Safari EV will also host a design change on the exterior to adapt to the typical EV-ness.

The Safari EV could be priced at ₹35 Lakh.

VinFast VF 9

VinFast is a brand that is about to enter the Indian Automotive market. This brand has put forward its plans of establishing a manufacturing factory in India by agreeing to all the latest terms & conditions of the government. VinFast is a pure EV brand with quite a lot of Cars and SUVs on sale in the USA. The VF9 is the most popular in the lineup.

The VF 9 happens to be the brand’s flagship 8-seater SUV. It has a huge road presence and almost looks like an American full-size SUV from the outside. The SUV gets a massive 123 kWh battery pack that offers a range of complete 500 km. This battery pack is a powerhouse, as it produces 402 hp and charges from 10 - 70 % within 35 minutes.

The VF 9 gets a super comfortable cabin with rich leather material and a humongous Glass roof. It also gets Ambient lighting throughout the cabin. The Design on the exterior is boxy with slight curves on the edges.

5 - 2025 Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda Kodiaq

Now, let us get more into reality by talking about Cars or SUVs that will be launched in the coming months, unlike the Safari EV or the VinFast VF 9. The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq is one of those SUVs, which is bound to launch in the coming months. Skoda will bring the second generation of the Kodiaq as per its Indian timeline.

This new 2025 Kodiaq will be different in terms of all the aspects. The design of this SUV will be a major talking point, as it has been made bigger and given a new look. The 2025 Kodiaq will revive the same engine it offers now in the Indian market - The 2.0 L TSI Petrol Engine - 190 hp and 320 Nm torque. The International spec gets many powertrain options, out of which, there is a 2.0 L Diesel, too. But, the arrival of the Diesel is close to none, as the brand has stopped selling Diesel powertrains in India.

The Kodiaq offers a lot more premium approach in its 2025 avatar. It gets a 13-inch Infotainment system with Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and it also offers a 10.25-inch Instrument Cluster. The Kodiaq has a lot of simply clever features, like other Skodas - three multipurpose Dials that can be used for Climate Control, Media Controls, and Drive modes. The Kodiaq might be better in terms of comfort as it has been lengthened compared to the current generation in India. It will also be the Skoda SUV in India with ADAS.

The 2025 Skoda Kodiaq will be priced at ₹60 Lakh.

4 - Ford Endeavour

3 - Mahindra XUV 7OO

Mahindra XUV 700

Now, after speaking about the upcoming ones, let us move on to the ones that are available in the Indian market. This Indian SUV defines what a modern-age Family SUV means. It truly lives up to the mark of being one. The XUV 7OO rivals the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Alcazar, etc.

The XUV 7OO is powered by two brilliant engines that have been developed and made in India - a 2.0 L Turbo Petrol Engine and a 2.2 L Turbo Diesel Engine. These mStallion and mHawk engines, respectively, are the benchmark in their segments, as they are regarded as the best. On the other hand, the XUV 7OO has got a good design which is sharp as well as muscular. This combination provides the XUV with a good road presence.

The XUV 7OO’s interiors happen to be the most advanced-looking in the segment. The 10.25-inch Infotainment screen and the Instrument Cluster included in one single connected panel, give a good dashboard look. The rest of the Interiors also use bright white leather material. The panels and overall functionality inside the cabin are very smooth. The XUV 7OO was also the first Indian car to feature ADAS functionalities.

The XUV 7OO is available at a starting price of ₹13.99 Lakh to ₹26.04 Lakh.

2 - Toyota Fortuner

Toyota Fortuner

We know, How could the Fortuner be second?! Well, the first-ranked SUV is such that no one could surpass it. Anyway, the Fortuner is currently India’s most successful full-size SUV that has remained unbeatable since the day it was launched. The Fortuner is currently in its third generation in India, which is also bound to get a major upgrade soon

The Fortuner packs two massive engines - a 2.8 L Turbo Diesel Engine and a 2.7 L Naturally Aspirated Engine. The Diesel unit chunks out 204 hp and 500 Nm torque, whereas the Petrol unit produces 204 hp and 245 Nm torque. The Diesel engine is the most preferred one, as the Petrol alternative is a heavy drinker.

The Fortuner has been running with the same design for years now. It gets a huge stance with its tall and muscular design language. The Fortuner is usually preferred because of having a boss-like aura by the customers. Inside the cabin, the material quality and the offerings are long-lasting. The screen used is also not so up-to-date with the old interface. But, all of this does have its pros - It can be abused the way you want and still, it will work as it was a day before.

The Fortuner is also a very overly priced SUV concerning the kind of feature it offers. It starts from ₹33.43 Lakh and goes up to ₹51.44 Lakh.

1 - Land Rover Defender

Land Rover Defender Octa

This is the SUV because of which the Fortuner had to be ranked second. The Defender is a pure SUV with the best 7-seater traits. It has spacious interiors with luxurious offerings. Moreover, it is also the most expensive SUV on this list.

The Defender recently got updated in India with the launch of the Octa Edition. The Octa is a more sophisticated version of the Defender with the same ultimate Off-road features. It also happens to be the most powerful Defender ever produced to date. The most powerful and brutal engine of the Defender happens to be a 4.4 L Twin Turbo Petrol V8 unit producing 630 hp and 800 Nm torque.

Land Rover Defender offroad

The Defender is this one incredible SUV with true SUV-ness. It is available in a total of three size options, out of which, the biggest - 130 variant - provides the best space in all three rows of the SUV. Moreover, getting the Octa edition, the 110 Defender becomes much more convincing, as there is nothing that can stop this beast now. It competes with the likes of the Mercedes Benz G-Wagon, Aston Martin DBX, etc. The Defender is the only SUV to define this Blog’s title properly - Best 7-seater SUV in India.

It starts from ₹97 Lakh and goes up to ₹2.85 Cr.
