XUV.e8 Spied Testing on India Roads - Biggest LED Lights on an India car

November 24th, 2023

Tata Motors can be called the king of the Electric Car Industry already, as they have almost acquired about 90 percent of its market share. It was quite evident from the start that Tata Motors could reach this spot, as they did the right things with the right mindset. However, all of this indicates one simple thing, which is that now it might be quite a challenge for other Car makers to snatch this position from Tata Motors in the coming future. But, as they say, nothing is impossible, well, so is this! Basically, it is not that no one now could have the position of Tata Motors in the Electric car segment; in fact, they could if they think and perform things in a better and more convincing way. A simple answer to that is to target the spots that are still untouched by Tata Motors. Well, about this, it seems that one more Indian brand has taken this very seriously, and we are talking about Mahindra. As Tata Motors is far away from launching the Harrier and the Safari EVs, Mahindra has taken advantage of this moment and started the rapid testing of the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8. Have a look at this, as the XUV.e8 Spied Testing on India Roads - Biggest LED Lights.

Mahindra XUV.e8 Spy Shots

1 - Same Tail lights like XUV 700

The XUV.e8 seems to have the same tail lights as its ICE version, the XUV 700. However, it would have been a bit nicer and suited the characteristics of the car, if it had gotten a set of differently designed Tail lights, as it is an Electric vehicle. But, we think it would be unfair if we judged it too early; maybe Mahindra would come up with a change for that before the XUV.e8 gets launched.

2 - New Alloy wheels

Mahindra XUV.e8 new Alloy wheels

The Alloys that were spotted on the test mule of the XUV.e8, were different than its XUV 700. These were more squarish, and they were also unlike any electric vehicle’s alloys, as they are more open, which is usually not the case with electric vehicle’s alloys. The rest of the factors are very similar to the ones in the XUV 700, like the size of the alloys is 18 inches, and the width is 235 mm

But, there are two things to be spoken of-

First - If you compare both of these alloys, they are more dechromed than the XUV 700’s alloys. It packs a lot more blackened-out materials, with a simple chrome line running around the circumference.

Second - We talked about it being a bit unEV-like, as they are more open in terms of their design. But, if we have a closer look, we will notice a screw-hole in every squared element - there are a total of five squared elements, and there is one screw-hole in the middle of every element - which tells us that this is surely a prototype and the closing design elements can be fitted in all the five squares of the Alloy wheel.

3 - LED DRL surrounding the whole Front

The talking point is, in fact, the LED DRL. It runs long, which makes it cover the whole front. It is comparatively a thick LED strip, and it does not pack any kind of curve in it. It is a three-piece setup, out of which the middle strip sits on the nose of the vehicle, and the other two cover the rest of the front, including the sides. To be honest, it also looks like a mustache, which is not looking bad, actually. For sure, it can also be named as the longest DRL ever on any car.

4 - Copper-surrounded LED Headlamps

As we had a sight of this on its conceptual avatar, the same has been carried down to the production model as well, it seems. We can see a very neat copper surround, which indeed looks sleek and extremely filled with style. Talking of the LED Headlamps, they are, too, an exact look-a-like of the ones shown on the concept model. There seems to be a primary LED beam sitting on top of the three small LED beams, which might act as the foglamps of the vehicle.

5 - Three Screens in the Interior

Mahindra XUV.e8 Steering Wheel

Well, we all were struck by the introduction of the three screens in the interiors of the XUV.e8 while its concept was showcased. So, it looks like Mahindra has kept its promise very well, as we can clearly see the presence of the three screens in the test mule. This also makes the XUV.e8 the very first Indian car to have three screens for the use of the passengers and the Driver.

The layout can also be made out, even though they have been kept hidden. We can see that those three screens start from the Driver’s screen or the Instrument Cluster, and go running up to the other end of the cabin. Well, it will surely not be a continuous display; it will be a set of three displays, and most probably, Mahindra will also have their bezels thinned out for a premium appearance.

It will, most probably, have its software made by the current software partner of Mahindra, Adrenox . It is believed that this time it will have a lot of revisions made in its interface in order to make it look more sophisticated and easy to use. Surely, it will be packed with all the basic connectivity features and the premium ones, as well.

6 - New Two-Spoke Steering Wheel

After Tata Motors, Mahindra seems to be the second Indian Auto manufacturer to be adding the elegance of a Two-Spoke steering wheel. It is, of course, a lot different than the ones in Tata Motors’ line-up, and this new Mahindra’s steering looks much better than the ones in Tata cars. It is simple with a unique style packed into it. Its simplicity makes it look ageless and sleek.

Secondly, the whole presence and character of the XUV.e8 that has been seen till now seems to have been going well, and this new steering wheel also makes it even better. As the vehicle is already very different-looking, but, this steering wheel balances out the seesaw very well.

The most important factor to be noted is that if you notice, there are no printed buttons on the wheel, which tells us that, like the steering wheel in Tata cars, this will, too, have its buttons illuminate once the vehicle is started. Moreover, again, like the one in Tata cars, the new Mahindra’s steering will also have its logo illuminated, which means Mahindra now has also gone past the 3D logo.

7 - New Drive Selector

The Drive selector stick that we saw in the XUV 400 has not also been spotted in the XUV.e8. It is definitely a good-looking drive selector, with a neat amount of copper used on it. Going a bit off-topic, Mahindra deserves to be applauded for exchanging the use of chrome with copper; it looks much better on vehicles.

Overall, the shape of the drive selector stick looks more inspired by the premium branded vehicles, like BMW, etc

The rest of the center console around it has also been tweaked and made look very clean and plain, which indeed increases the opulence from the inside.
