Why all Big Indian YouTubers are Buying Ford Mustang to Get More Views

June 5th, 2023

Indian YouTubers are buying more and more expensive cars recently; the UK07 Rider bought a Ford Mustang, and Elvish Yadav Bough a Porsche Boxter. This one car is the ultimate favourite of every YouTuber, the Ford Mustang, but the reason for buying this 7-year-old muscle is not known to many.

First Launch in India

The Mustang first came to the Indian shores in mid-2016 when Ford considered launching their muscle car in India. Still, they were highly skeptical about whether the Indian market would accept such a muscle car, as India never had a sports car-loving market. But still, they went with India and launched their Mustang GT in India at a price of ₹ 65 Lakhs (Ex-showroom India).

2016 Ford Mustang launched in India

And to reduce the risk, Ford initially just allotted 100 units for the Indian market to test the market, but surprisingly the Indian market went crazy for the Mustang and the 100 units were sold out within 2 weeks of launch. Ford sold more than 250 units within 9 months of launch, indicating an interest in these Sports cars in India.

This soon became the best-selling performance car in India and was outselling every other car of such type mainly due to 2 reasons.

1 – Brand

Ford Mustang Great Brand Value reason for Youtuber buying it

The Mustang was already a well-known brand in India because of many Hollywood movies and the unique looks of the car, so when Ford launched it in India. They did not have to do any such PR or promotions in order for the people to get to know the car properly because the car carried such a strong a unique brand name; the enthusiasts were already waiting in line to book there.

2 --Price

The Price at which Ford Mustang came was quite affordable compared to any other such performance car. Ford offered a 5.0L V8 Sports car at ₹ 65 Lakhs in India, which was half of the other Cheapest V8 Sports cars sold back then. Even the other v6 sports cars, like the Porsche Cayman, which came at around this price, never offered the same level of the road –presence as a Mustang, making it a serious value for money and chaud to money ratio ( developed by Harsh Babbar on YouTube ).

But then till 2019, the sales of the Mustang started to decline due to no launch of the facelift and people getting bored of it; then, in 2020, Corona hit the country, car sales slumped to a multi-year low, and Ford was one of the worst hit car brands in India due to this pandemic, incurring heaving losses on the Indian Operations, Ford finalized to stop production in India and wrap up the Indian Operations, so Ford closed its shop, and Mustang also left India forever. The 400 Mustang, which was sold in India between 2016-2019, became the only one to ever exist.

But big YouTubers have started buying this muscle car for mainly 3 big reasons –

Resale Value –

Because the Last Mustang was sold in India in 2019, and only 400 units exist in India, the demand for these cars always remains high as there is a limited supply but ever-increasing demand. In fact, the supply of the units is decreasing as many people don’t understand Mustang’s oversteering and end up in a ditch. So due to this supply-demand mismatch, the prices for a Mustang in the used car market never go down or even appreciates over time, incentivizing YouTubers to buy this car as they get a unique car for making content and simultaneously not losing much value when selling the car after some months ( as YouTubers do )
