Indian Automobile Industry lacks enthusiastic cars in its affordable segment, today. Earlier, there were cars like VW Polo, Fiat Punto, etc. These cars had brought some amount of excitement in the segment but, now, even they have been discontinued. Well, it seems that the enthusiastic area of the segment is rising again, as in the Indian Auto Expo 2023, we got to see a very unusual brand to showcase their enthusiastic plans for the affordable segment. We are speaking of Tata Motors and their Altroz Racer. This Altroz is going to be a serious sports variation of itself, as it would not only get any cosmetic updates but also mechanical and technological updates.
One of our Carversal Pros and Aristocrats spotted the Altroz Racer ahead of its launch, preparing a shoot for its TVC.
In the image, we can see that the Altroz Racer Edition is being shot for its TVC. It is being shot in the same color, as it was shown at the 2023 Indian Auto Expo. The body color consists of a Glossy Red Color for the Lower Front, Side, and Rear panels. The Bonnet and the roof of the Altroz Racer get a Black Color with Two White Strips.
The Front of the Altroz Racer Edition gets a completely similar look. It still gets the Halogen Headlamp setup, with projector beams and reflectors. It also gets Fod lamps with LED DRLs attached to them. The air dams placed lower down have the front unit of the 360* Camera system. The Side of the Altroz Racer gets a new set of Alloy wheels. These wheels are completely blacked-out version of the current ones, the size of the wheels will be kept the same. At the rear, it will get a small spoiler for better airflow over the vehicle.
The Interior of the Altroz Racer has been blacked out, like the one in the Altroz Dark edition. But, there are quite a few contrasty bits, like the red-colored ambient lighting, the red and white-colored stitching on the seats, etc.
The Racer also gets a new Infotainment system, which is coming from the pre-facelift of the Harrier and Safari. It is a 10.25 inch unit, with amazing graphics and font. Hence, it is crystal clear to read all the info on it. It also showcases a lot of vehicular data. The Instrument Cluster gets a 7 inch unit, with the same font and graphics, as in the Infotainment system. There are also two dials on both sides of the Instrument Cluster. Other than this, we believe that Tata Motors might bring in some changes, as this concept was showcased almost a year ago, and since then, the brand has come a long way in terms of technology and design.
So, we could expect a Two-spoke steering wheel, like in the Nexon, and maybe a slightly redesigned interior.
The Tata Altroz Racer Edition will get a 1.2 L Turbocharged Petrol Engine producing 120 hp and 170 Nm of Torque. This output is about 10 hp more and 30 Nm of Torque more than the regular non-Turbo version of the same engine.
It is good that Tata Motors considered giving an uplifted performance in the Racer edition of the Altroz, as it would actually help them to distinguish the superiority of the Altroz over the Hyundai i20.
Tata Motors will most probably launch the Tata Altroz Racer in the coming month of May. We expect it to take place by the end of the particular month.
The Tata Altroz Racer edition will launched at a price of ₹9 lakhs.
