India’s love for SUVs is rising rapidly, and this is evident through its monthly sales figures. The practicality, convenience, and experience given by the SUVs are supreme and welcomed. Secondly, the downfall of the sedans also gives a boost to the overall sales of this category. So, let us go through the Top 10 Best selling SUVs in January 2024 to analyze their sales chart.
The First position in this table is taken by the Mahindra Scorpio. The Big Daddy of SUVs stands on top of this table by selling 14,293 units of itself. Well, when it comes to real hardcore SUVs in India, there is just one name in our mouths, Mahindra. In January 2024, too, Mahindra proved that they sell real SUVs, thanks to the Scorpio. By ‘Scorpio’ Mahindra is not talking about the Scorpio Classic only, they are also talking about the Scorpio N.
The Second position is acquired by, again a Mahindra SUV, the Mahindra XUV 7OO. The Mahindra XUV 7OO is the jack of all, as it does a good enough job in almost every aspect, be it Mechanically, Technologically, or comfort-wise. In the month of January 2024, Mahindra sold 7,206 units of the XUV 7OO.
The next position, which is the Third position has been taken by the Tata Safari. The Safari got a substantial update in 2023, this time, Tata Motors upgraded the Safari in almost every way. The brand upped the SUV's class by bringing in some quality changes like rich-styled interiors, advanced technology, and a sharp design. In January 2024, Tata Motors sold 2,893 units of the Tata Safari.
The Fourth position is reserved for the hottest Indian SUV, the Tata Harrier. The Harrier also got a huge upgrade alongside the Safari. It received similar changes and updates as the Safari, ranging from new technology, design, and interiors. Tata Motors sold 2,626 units of the Harrier in the month of January 2024.
Hyundai Alcazar is standing in the Fifth position in this list, as Hyundai sold 1,827 units of the SUV in January 2024. Alcazar is a good 7-seater SUV, providing a decent package of great engines, good comfort, etc. The Alcazar can easily be opted for city commuting, as it would end up being a good purchase.
The Sixth position is booked by the British-cum-Chinese, MG Hector / Plus. The Hector and its Plus version are mechanically the same with quite a few SUVs in its segment. But, it still tries to be different in terms of the offerings inside the cabin. The technology and cabin layout is unlike any Chinese-made car. We get to see some premium components like leather, big screens, and decent mechanicals. In January 2024, MG sold 1,817 units of the Hector and Hector Plus combined.
The Seventh position is acquired by the only American left in the Indian Automotive Industry, today, the Jeep Compass. The Compass is one of those SUVs that uses the same engine as the Hector. But, again, it is way different in other aspects compared to Hector. We can see a lot of American styling and practicality used in the Compass. It also gets a set of good engines, in both Petrol and Diesel iterations. In January 2024, Jeep sold 286 units of the Hector in India.
The Eighth position is for the Hyundai Tucson. The Tucson is, again, one good SUV, if only you buy any one of the Diesel variants of it. The Tucson lies in the entry-level premium SUVs, which also makes it the flagship SUV of Hyundai in India, and as the Tucson is a Hyundai, at the end of the day, it is supreme in almost every aspect. In January 2024, Hyundai sold 183 units of the Tucson in India.
The last position, Tenth place, is given to the Citroen C5 Aircross. The C5 Aircross, shockingly was just bought by one person being a good SUV. This SUV is no doubt a good SUV, but there is just one problem that is blocking its success, the brand presence in India. Indians buy a car by keeping in mind the after-sales service, and as Citroen has a very small number of outlets here in India, with respect to its size internationally, it does not sell well here.
