We have all played Musical chairs, at least once in our childhood. It is indeed a great game. Well, in the Automotive Industry of India, we can say a game of Musical chairs is being played between the Car brands. If one month Car brand ‘A’ is standing in the first spot, then the next month, we will find someone else in the same place. So, let us see who's on top of the sales chart, as we go through the Top 10 Best selling Cars in January 2024.
On the First place, is standing the most beautiful-looking hatchback, Maruti Suzuki Baleno. We did think that Tata Motors’ amazing launches, like the Altroz iCNG, Punch iCNG, etc, would eat cars like Baleno, but it seems the reality is totally different. Maruti sold 19,630 units of Baleno in the month of January 2024.
The Second place in this table has been acquired by the Tata Punch. Tata Motors sold 17,978 units of the Punch in January 2024. Well, it is evident that the iCNG launch is working fabulously for the Punch’s sales chart. With so much variety in the product line-up now, having launched the Punch.ev, as well, Tata Motors will see more jump in Punch’s sales in the future.
The Third place has been reserved by India’s favorite cab / Hatchback, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. Well, the WagonR is a brand greater than Maruti, itself. So, the success of WagonR is bulletproof now. We might see some dips here and there, but it will always make a comeback like this. In the month of January 2024, 17,756 units of WagonR were sold by Maruti Suzuki.
The next spot, which is the Fourth position, is taken by the Tata Nexon. Nexon, now, has become an unignorable car in its segment, thanks to its striking design, and supreme features, it is unbeatable by its rivals, today. But, we still feel that the brand is yet to reach its peak, as a lot of silly niggles are found in almost every one of their cars. This month, in January 2024, Tata Motors sold 17,182 units of the Nexon.
The Fifth spot is booked by India’s most popular Sedan, Maruti Suzuki Dzire. The only Sedan that does not really care about the Sedan culture going out of India, as even when the Sedans were facing their downfalls, the Dzire was being sold like hotcakes. In the month of January 2024, Maruti Suzuki Dzire’s 16,773 units were sold.
On the Sixth spot is standing the mighty Maruti Suzuki Swift. This Hatchback lacks a lot of features when compared to other Hatchbacks of its standards, but still, all of that does not really bother the buyers of the Swift. In the month of January 2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 15,370 units of the Swift. These figures will definitely go up in the coming months, as the next generation of the Swift is about to be launched in India.
The Seventh position is acquired by the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Since the launch of the new Nexon, Brezza has been finding a lot of issues surpassing it in sales numbers. The great styling and feature-rich aspect of the Nexon make the Brezza invisible to everyone. In the month of January 2024, Brezza’s 15,303 units were sold.
The Eighth spot has been reserved by the most loved people-mover of India that is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. This MPV was a massive hit from the day of its launch, and even today, regardless of its low safety standards, it still sells in huge numbers. Maruti Suzuki sold 14,632 units of Ertiga in the month of January 2024.
The second last position, the Ninth spot in this list is taken by the Big Daddy of SUVs which is the Mahindra Scorpio. Well, the Big Daddy did post this figure alone, as Mahindra shows the combined figures of the Classic Scorpio and the Scorpio N. In the month of January 2024, Mahindra sold 14,293 units of the Scorpio.
