If you are not familiar with the Toyota Century Sedan, then we think you are missing way too much. Because, this Japanese Manufacturer hasn’t just ended its Luxurious Vehicle’s line up till the Toyota Vellfire, but there is one more beyond it. And it is called the Toyota Century.
Well, Toyota Century is not a particular car, it is a lineup of cars, which currently packs just one vehicle, the Toyota Century Sedan. But, we all know that now-a-days, people are more focusing towards the SUV segments, then whether it be the Affordable category or the Luxurious category, SUVs are selling like Hotcakes. Therefore, almost all the luxurious brands followed what was in demand, and launched cars like, Rolls Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga, Mercedes Benz GLS Maybach, and the list is long.
But somewhere, our beloved king of reliability, Toyota, thought that if these brands are getting into the Luxurious SUV segment, then why not us? So, here you go, the Japanese Automaker today unveiled its Luxurious Toyota Century SUV.
The Toyota Century SUV is a high-class Luxury SUV from the brand. It is meant to cater for the riches, with an even richer feel.
This SUV will go head-on with the likes of Rolls Royce Cullinan , Bentley Bentayga , Mercedes Benz GLS Maybach , etc. as said earlier. Though this SUV will be initially sold in the Japanese market only, it holds a tall chances of being introduced internationally later, unlike its Sedan version, the Toyota Century Sedan .
Well, whatever we say about its exterior, all of it will not be enough to justify the essence. Toyota knows how to bring presence in its cars, so whether it be an Innova, it doesn't matter, because it walks with its Individuality. And over here, things are way bigger than the Innova, so it is very certain that this product will be TOP NOTCH!
At the Front, the Century SUV stands tall, and Fearless, so much so that it seems it is here to eat GLS Maybach for Breakfast, Bentayga for Lunch, and Cullinan for Dinner. Man-o-man, whatever you see included in the Front design, it is all just Big! Talking of the Grille, it is big and Squared, with that huge Century logo in the middle. The Nose itself is very much concentrated on the centre of the car, like the Cullinan, and the Bentayga. The lower bumper on the other hand, also packs three Boxy, Squared elements most probably functional for Air intakes.
Coming to the Front Lighting setup, there are a total of 4 Highly bright LED beams. These are distributed in two rectangular compartments, which are stacked upon each other.
The Side of the car is massive, to say the least. It is so tall, and long that it feels like this is not a car, it is a Tank underneath. And well, that is how a Luxury SUV should be, as it shall throw bright lights of Superiority, wherever it goes. Getting into the design, it is squared throughout its flow. It stands on those huge 20-inchers as standard, and 22-inchers are available as an option. The Wheel cladding has been kept minimal to expose more of its body, to create a Dinosaur-like presence. The Doors are huge, and talking of the Rear door especially, it does not open in a traditional way, but it slides at the back, like its MPV sibling - the Toyota Vellfire.
The interior of the car, at least to us, looks partially towards the Rear seats. And it had to be because that is what Toyota’s Century lineup is made for. Sheer Comfort. It is not meant to be driven, it is more of a car, which wants to get you at ease.
The Dashboard consists of leather Right, obviously. In technological terms, it packs all the gimmicky stuff, like two 12.3-inch screens - Both Instrumentation and infotainment - to cater to the driver full of information. The center console itself is so big that literally one full-size Human could comfortably sit on it. We mean, just look at it, the images themselves convey the feel of comfort at the front. But, is this car all about its Front row? We don’t think so!
Because the main concert is at the rear row of Seats. Just two seats are available, but they pack enough amenities to provide you comfort more than a literal Sofa. According to Toyota, those rear seats can be reclined completely flat, which ultimately makes this SUV first in the world to get this feature. You will not see any lever, or mechanical operatives to use something, because everything back there works on touch of buttons.
And just in case, you have gotten bored, don’t worry, because you can turn on those two 11.6 inches of display for your entertainment at the back. And all of this could be accessed from that 5.5 inches of touchscreen display on that Rear Armrest.
A 3.5 L V6 Petrol engine, which is also attached with a Plug-in Hybrid system is on offer. It packs the ability to generate 406 hp. Unfortunately, unlike its Sedan sibling, Century Sedan, the SUV doesn’t hold a V12, a miss!
But, with this Plug-in Hybrid system, it has something which could amaze, and maybe attract Indians or Maruti Suzuki owners specifically. What is it, you wonder? Then it is nothing, but its mileage. 15 Kms per litre. This is definitely not a joke, because this SUV might be weighing Tonnes & Tonnes of Kilos, but still that Hybrid system manages to cater a healthy fuel economy.
Talking of the battery on offer, according to Toyota, it can drive the SUV up to 69 Kms in full Electric mode.
This mammoth of a machine has been priced at JPY 25 Million, which if converted into INR becomes ₹1.5 Cr. Wait, this is a directly converted price, it doesn’t consist of any Import duties, which will be applicable once it gets launched in India. Yes, it will not be a Made in India SUV, as it uses some materials, and components, which are only available in Japan. Thus, when added the Import duties into the converted price, this epitome of Luxury will cost you about ₹3 Cr.
