Mahindra's next big launch is scheduled on August 15, 2024. The brand will launch the much anticipated Thar Roxx, the 5-door version of the Thar 3-door. Mahindra has already released quite a few teasers about the upcoming off-road SUV in India. Recently, Mahindra launched one more teaser of the Thar Roxx that confirmed some exciting features the SUV will offer. 

Thar Roxx Features Confirmed!

10.25 inch Instrument Cluster - 

The Thar Roxx will have the same Instrument Cluster as its siblings - XUV 7OO and XUV 3XO. This 10.25 inch unit will be outstanding in terms of features - it will display navigational maps with different views, detailed Information, different Dial faces, etc. 

10.25 inch Infotainment Screen - 

The Infotainment screen is also a borrowed unit from the XUV 3XO. This unit was recently introduced in the XUV range. It holds the updated software of Mahindra’s AdrenoX. 

Ventilated Seats - 

The Thar Roxx will be the first Thar to have a ventilated seat function. This function will be limited only to the front Two rows of seats. 

Panoramic Sunroof - 

Panoramic Sunroof has also been confirmed in the Thar Roxx. Still, it will be quite smaller compared to all of the other Panoramic sunroofs we have seen. 

JBL - Harmon Kardon Sound System - 

The Thar Roxx will be the first Mahindra car to host a Harmon Kardon JBL sound system, as all Mahindra SUVs are fitted with SONY speakers. 

These are some features that have been confirmed by the brand through the means of teaser. But, there are a few features that we believe could come in the Thar Roxx - LED Headlamps & Tail lights, 18 inch Alloy wheels, Single Zone Climate Control, Auto-Dimming IRVM, ADAS, Keyless Entry & Remote Locking, etc. 

Platform and Engine Specs

The Mahindra Thar Roxx will be based on the same platform as the Scorpio N, which is also an extended version of the Thar 3-door’s platform. This platform has already proved how insanely capable it is off-road. It will also make the Thar Roxx, the second SUV in Mahindra’s lineup to have a ladder-on-frame chassis. 

The Engine options on the Thar Roxx will be very similar to that of the Thar 3-door and Scorpio N. The SUV will offer Three Engine options - a 1.5 L Diesel Engine, a 2.0 L Petrol Engine, and a 2.2 L Diesel Engine. 

The 1.5 L Diesel engine will be paired with a 6-speed Manual gearbox. The 2.0 L Petrol engine and 2.2 L Diesel Engine will be paired with a 6-speed Manual and a 6-speed Automatic Gearbox. 

Out of these Three engines, only the 2.2 L Diesel and 2.0 L Petrol powerhouses will have the option of 4X4. The 1.5 L Engine will be in RWD format. 

Moreover, these engines will undergo a few changes mechanically, and most probably be tuned differently. This tunning will help differentiate the Thar Roxx’s Driving manner from the other Mahindra SUVs sharing the same engines. It will help the SUV fulfill its purpose, too. 

Design and Interiors

The Thar Roxx will have a stretched Thar 3-door design. Still, it will have a few bits of a distinctive personality. It will have a different Grille design with a new LED Headlamp and Tail lamp design, too. It will also have doors on the side with the Rear door handle placed on the C-Pillar. 

The Interiors will host White colored leatherette seats with Ventilation features for the Front row. The Thar Roxx being a 5-seater Thar will obviously have a second row of seats. The window area for the second row of seats is seen to be a bit smaller. A few Speakers of the Music system might be attached to the roof of the cabin, like in the Scorpio N and XUV 7OO. 

Other than this, it will get 10.25 inch Infotainment screen and Instrument Cluster with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, it will also have a Map display on the Instrument Cluster. A few more features like Automatic Climate Control, Panoramic Sunroof, 360 degree Camera, ADAS, etc. 

Thar Roxx Price Details

The Thar Roxx will be priced above the current Thar 3-door. It will have premium features compared to the Thar 3-door, which will make the SUV a bit more expensive than the same. The Thar Roxx might start off its price parallel to that of Scorpio N - So, we believe that the prices could start from ₹13 lakh and will climb up to ₹20 lakh.
