February 6th, 2025

The long-awaited new facelift of one of the most famous SUVs in India will make its debut just in time for the New Year. Tata Motors has priced the new Tata Sumo facelift attractively at Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), promising to bring a fresh wave of excitement to the SUV segment.

The car has been in Indian homes for generations, but its design, performance, and technology have significantly been upgraded over the years. The vehicle makes a very compelling buy for an urban buyer and even for a rural buyer.

Fresh New Look

Tata Sumo Facelift

The Tata Sumo has   been rugged in design and even utilitarian at times, and the new edition takes it even further. For one, exteriorly, it was completely revamped with its modern appearance, way more aggressive today.

The front fascia has this new bold grille with chrome trim mounted to the sides by sleek LED headlamps and daytime running lights. The bumper, again, has been redesigned to give the car a more muscular look; otherwise, side view is the same signature boxy shape of the Sumo, but with new alloy wheels and some body cladding thrown in for good measure.

At the back, the revised Sumo offers updated LED taillights, along with an all-new design for the tailgate, creating a more current look. On the whole, the design represents a perfect integration of rugged and modern elements that can be comfortably used for an off-road safari as well as for city running.

Enhanced Interior and Comfort

Tata Sumo Interior

Step inside the new Tata Sumo, and you will be greeted by a cabin that is a significant upgrade from its predecessor. The interior now features premium materials, with soft-touch surfaces and leather upholstery.

The dashboard also gets a new touchscreen infotainment system that integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and includes Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, the instrument cluster now is completely digital and will make available all the information to the driver at a single glance.

Another significant priority that Tata Motors has emphasized was comfort. Sumo's seating has been engineered to carry a capacity of as many as seven individuals. All three rows allow for spacious leg room as well as excellent headroom space.

Every one of those three rows could offer comfort by design in seat architecture. What is more, a wide list of convenience options features this model: climate automatic, rear vents AC, and sunroof panoramic.

Powerful Performance

Under the hood, the new Tata Sumo facelift is powered by a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine that develops an impressive 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque.

A 6-speed manual transmission mates to this engine, while an automatic was available for those who would prefer to experience an easy drive. The vehicle also had a 4x4 drivetrain option that would make it ready to take on even the most hostile terrain that nature can throw at it.

Tata also worked to provide better fuel economy for the newly designed Sumo. This newly designed car could now promise nearly 15 kilometers per liter with a lot fewer emissions and without compromising comfort during travel, hence making it a very fuel-efficient SUV in this class. Also, suspension systems have been aligned to deliver very comfortable rides during smooth highway journeys or bad village roads.

Higher Safety Features

Tata Motors has always made safety an important thing in all the models that it brings out, and this has been well practiced in the case of the new Sumo facelift too.

The new Sumo has all the high-end safety features, such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and even rear parking sensors coupled with a rearview camera. There is electronic stability control and hill descent control to ensure complete control on any road.

The car comes with robust build quality and boasts an excellent high-strength steel body to provide protection in case of a crash. In addition, ISOFIX child seat mounts, included by Tata Motors, made it safer for families.

Competitive Pricing

The most exciting thing about the new Tata Sumo facelift is its price tag. The car goes for Rs 12 lakh ex-showroom. For that, it offers quite a lot of features and performance. Such aggressive pricing would make the new Sumo a great proposition to buyers searching for a reliable and capable SUV without burning a hole into their pockets.
