Tata Motors is preparing a facelift for the Altroz, as confirmed by recent spy shots. The updated model is expected to feature a redesigned front fascia with a split Headlamp setup of LED DRLs & Beams and new Alloy wheels. Interior upgrades would include a larger Infotainment screen from the Tata Punch with updated software, and likely ADAS for added safety.

Mechanically, it is likely to retain the same engine options— a 1.2 L Naturally Aspirated Petrol producing 86 hp and 113 Nm torque, a 1.2 L CNG-powered Petrol engine producing 76 hp and 97 Nm torque, and a 1.5 L Diesel that chucks out 90 hp and 200 Nm torque. Secondly, the Altroz also has a Racer edition, which packs a traditional 1.2 L Turbo Petrol engine, but the 2025 Altroz would get the new T-GDI engine that produces 125 hp and 225 Nm torque. The launch is expected before Quarter 3 of 2025, and it will continue competing with the Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno, and Toyota Glanza. The expected starting price is ₹7.72 lakh.

Tata Motors might want to gear up to introduce a facelift for the Punch, as it has been due for a long time. The updated model is expected to have a complete makeover from both inside and outside. It will have the same split headlamp setup, but with LEDs replacing the Halogens and will also adapt the new Curvv-inspired front fascia. Secondly, the interiors in the 2025 Punch will be better laid out with tonnes of features, most of which are already available— a 10.25’ Instrument Cluster, a New Centre Console, Ventilated Seats, Haptic touch for Climate Controls, etc.

Under the hood, the 2025 Punch is likely to retain its existing powertrain lineup— a 1.2 L naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 88 hp and 115 Nm torque, along with a factory-fitted CNG variant generating 76 hp and 97 Nm torque. However, the biggest update could be the introduction of a 1.2 L T-GDI turbo-petrol engine, expected to deliver 125 hp and 225 Nm torque, similar to the upcoming Altroz Racer— this will help the Punch compete with other Turbo-powered SUVs in the segment. The launch is expected in early 2025, where it will continue to rival the Hyundai Exter, Citroën C3, and Maruti Fronx. The facelift will see an increase in its prices with an expected starting price of ₹6.5 lakh.

All-new Tata Sierra / Sierra EV

Tata Motors is bringing back an icon with the all-new Sierra, set to launch in 2025. Unlike the original three-door SUV, the modern Sierra will be a five-door lifestyle SUV, designed to be rugged with a slew of modern technology. It is expected to feature a bold, boxy design with Tata’s signature LED Bar upfront, muscular Wheel Arches with glossy Claddings, and a premium interior equipped with a 10.25' infotainment system, a 10.25’ Instrument Cluster, a 10.25’ Entertainment Display for the Co-Driver, and ADAS for enhanced safety.

Powertrain options will include both ICE and EV variants. The ICE lineup is expected to feature the new 1.2 L T-GDI turbo-petrol engine producing 125 hp and 225 Nm torque— available in the Curvv, along with a 1.5 L diesel from the Nexon and Curvv that produces 113 hp and 260 Nm torque. Tata may also offer the more powerful 2.0 L diesel engine from the Harrier and Safari, delivering 170 hp and 350 Nm torque, catering to those looking for more off-road capability. Meanwhile, the Sierra EV will take things up a notch with a likely 75 kWh battery pack producing 300 hp and 500 Nm torque. It is also expected to feature Tata Motors’ Quad Wheel Drive system, which was first teased with the Harrier EV at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.

Expected to launch in Quarter 3 of 2025, the Sierra will compete with the Compact SUVs— Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, etc, while its electric variant could rival the likes of the BYD Atto 3. The expected price could start from ₹15 lakh.

Tata Motors, recently, introduced the Harrier EV, an all-electric version of its popular mid-size SUV, expected to launch soon in 2025. First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo, the Harrier EV will retain the bold and muscular design of its ICE counterpart but with subtle EV-specific elements like a closed-off Grille, Aerodynamic wheels, and a redesigned Bumper. The interior is expected to feature a 12.3' infotainment screen, a 10.25’ Instrument Cluster, premium upholstery, and ADAS for enhanced safety.

The Harrier EV will be based on Tata’s Gen 2 EV platform, which means— fitting the battery pack in the current OMEGA-Arc architecture of the Harrier. This platform was originally derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. It is likely to be powered by a dual-motor setup with Tata’s Quad Wheel Drive system, delivering around 300 hp and 500 Nm torque. The SUV is expected to pack a large 60-75 kWh battery, offering a real-world range of approximately 500 km. With fast-charging capabilities and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, the Harrier EV will rival the MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, and Hyundai Creta EV. Pricing is expected to start at around ₹30 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki is set to expand its SUV lineup with a seven-seater version of the Grand Vitara, internally codenamed Y17, expected to launch in late 2025. This big Family SUV will be built by Maruti, unlike the Invicto, which is a rebadged Toyota Hycross. Spy shots suggest that the SUV will feature a revised design inspired by the upcoming e-Vitara electric SUV, with a larger and longer body and subtle styling tweaks to differentiate it from its five-seater counterpart. It will be offered in both six-seater (captain seats) and seven-seater configurations to cater to different customer needs.

Under the hood, the Grand Vitara 7-seater is expected to retain the 1.5 L strong hybrid petrol engine from the current model, producing 116 hp and 141 Nm torque, paired with an e-CVT for better fuel efficiency. However, Maruti Suzuki might also introduce a more powerful 2.0 L strong hybrid system to compete against segment rivals. This SUV will take on the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV700 upon launch. The launch is expected to happen within this year-end i.e. 2025. The expected price starts from ₹17 lakh.

Volkswagen is working on a new subcompact SUV for the Indian market, which is expected to be based on the global Tera but with India-specific modifications. While the brand has not officially confirmed the Tera nameplate for India, reports suggest that Volkswagen will introduce a new SUV positioned below the Taigun, set for a 2026 launch. This upcoming model is likely to carry Volkswagen’s updated design language with a bold front grille, LED lighting, and a modern, rugged stance. The interior is expected to feature a 10' Instrument Cluster & Infotainment screen, Connected Car tech, Wireless Charging, and possibly an ADAS suite for added safety.

Under the hood, Volkswagen is likely to offer the SUV with its tried-and-tested 1.0L TSI turbo-petrol engine, delivering 115 hp and 178 Nm torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Possibly, a larger 1.5L TSI with 150 hp and 250 Nm torque, mated to a DSG, could also be on offer for higher trims. As it will be based on the Skoda Kylaq, it will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the SUV will take on the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and Kia Sonet in the growing subcompact SUV segment. Pricing is likely to start around ₹9 lakh.

2025 Skoda Superb Diesel

Skoda is set to bring back the Superb Diesel in India, marking the return of diesel power to its lineup. The new-generation 2025 model, showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, will come as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and is expected to feature a 2.0 L TDI diesel engine, producing 193 hp and 400 Nm torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic. While the exterior design remains premium, the new Superb will feature Matrix LED headlamps, a refreshed Grille, and Sleeker Body lines. Inside, Skoda is likely to offer a 13' floating Infotainment screen, three-zone climate control, and an optional heads-up display for added convenience.

Although the upcoming 2025 Superb will initially be offered as a diesel-only model, Skoda may introduce a petrol variant later, depending on demand.
