Mahindra has launched the Scorpio N Carbon Edition, a limited-edition variant that adds some dark styling elements to the SUV's personality. The special variant is priced at Rs. 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India) with Z8 and Z8 L being the two trims that are Rs. 20,000 more than the regular versions. Power and mechanical setup for this special model are the same as with the standard Scorpio N but with a sportier and more aggressive look, hence a viable choice for customers seeking a bold SUV.
The Scorpio N Carbon Edition has the same tough profile as the standard model, but there are a few dark-themed design changes along with it. The most obvious blackened alloy wheels take the place of silver-finished wheels of the base model making it even more aggressive. The window garnish, roof rails, ORVMs, and the front and rear skid plates are also blacked out, now done in dark grey rather than silver. According to the darkened theme, chrome TRIM under door handles has been replaced with darker chrome finish. These features fill the SUV with an overall stealthy, premium, and dynamism while on-road.
A More Premium and Sporty Cabin Internally, the area where it has undergone the maximum change is all-black cabin theme; it replaces mainstream dual-tone interior materials. This change adds a sportier flavor to the interior, with the obvious affinity for a performance-style cabin. The black leatherette hue on the seats contributes an upscale appearance and feel to the overall look in sync with the exterior's blacked-out features. Darkened even further, the dashboard and door trims are brushed aluminum highlights, shattering any iteration concerning the darkened theme without compromising sophistication. Everything else would remain in the way of cosmetics same as the regular Scorpio.
However, the Scorpio N Carbon Edition features all the tech traits necessary for making the regular Z8 and Z8 L models memorable, comfortable drives. There's an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system for easy smartphone connection via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The driver now has a digital readout of all primary driving information, thanks to a 7-inch digital readout that upgrades the instrument cluster. Entertainmentally, a 12-speaker Sony audio system delivers deep and immersive sound on the SUV.
There is a sunroof single pane to provide an airy ambience for long distance trips in the car. There are also other features like a wireless mobile charging pad, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, ventilated front seats, comfort features such as automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers that make the vehicle very convenient and comfortable. Overall, the Scorpio N Carbon Edition promises a very premium-feeling experience for both passengers and driver.
Though, Mahindra still keeps the safety quotient same in the Scorpio N Carbon Edition by providing the same unprecedented set of advanced safety features as in the regular model. The SUV also has six airbags front, side, and curtain airbags to provide total safety to the occupants. Electronic Stability Control (ESC) prevents the vehicle from rolling during difficult conditions, especially on wet surfaces; Hill Hold and Hill Descent Control makes it easy to navigate uphills or downhills and safe.
With the rear parking camera and sensors, all closing spaces in which to reverse safely are opened to the driver. The condition of tires is relayed to the driver through a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), which reduces the chances of surprises from punctures or blowouts. Disc brakes for all four wheels ensure enhanced braking power, and ISOFIX child seat mounts are available for improved child safety on board. All safe and trusted driving was provided with Scorpio N Carbon Edition.
The promise of versatility according to different needs while driving for the Scorpio N Carbon Edition still comes with petrol and diesel engine variants. The 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine develops a maximum power of 203 PS. It creates 370Nm torque in manual transmission, and a mild 380Nm of torque in the automatic derivative. It is a petrol motor for driving that is smooth and refined for city streets as well as cruising on highways.
Two versions of the 2.2-liter diesel engine are there. This 2.2-liter engine produces 175 PS power and 370 Nm torque for the manual model and achieves up to 400 Nm torque in the automatic version, which is just perfect for smooth cruising at high speed and adventure off-roading. Mahindra offers RWD and 4WD for diesel cars, so off-road drivers can experience all the features required to clear rough roads. Both engines are equipped with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic; customers can select one according to their driving style.
Of all the variants of the Mahindra Scorpio N Carbon Edition, the one that is priced Rs. 20,000 more than the regular ones is the base price of the Z8 petrol manual base model, which comes in at Rs. 19.19 lakh.
The top-end Z8 L diesel automatic 4WD comes at Rs. 24.89 lakh. Even though it is just a minor price increase, adding black-out elements and premier cabin upgrades to this SUV makes it a complete worthy upgrade for the person looking for a sportier-and more aggressive Scorpio N.
This Time, the Scorpio N Carbon Edition battle lines are drawn against its cousins: Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, MG Hector, and Hyundai Alcazar, each of which has a premium interior, contemporary features, and presence on the road; the ladder-frame build, proven diesel powertrains, and 4WD capability make Scorpio N stand out from its cousins.
Relentless in performance, premium in looks, and absolutely tough in capability, the Mahindra Scorpio N Carbon Edition would seem to have a balanced mix of everything. The customers pay Rs.20,000 extra for an altogether blacked-out personality, an all-black sportier interior, and the same engine options that are tough to tame for the regular Scorpio N. For someone who's looking for an aggressive-looking premium SUV without compromising Mahindra's traditionally tough character and off-road capabilities, this variant makes perfect sense.
The name Carbon Edition suits Scorpio N, an uncompromised SUV in terms of ruggedness, style, and equipment. It is behaviorally in command of the roads with a tech-savvy interior design and safety feature content, and is oodles of temptation, indeed.
