Hyundai has began testing its i20 facelift in India

June 15th, 2023

In May 2023, the Hyundai i20 received a facelift with upgraded features and a new appearance. Now that the redesigned i20 has been seen in India, further information about the test mule is evident. Kopskutty and Sai Chand Narra have spotted the i20 N Line facelift and the standard i20 facelift. Both versions get mild cosmetic changes compared to the current model on sale.

External Features

The exterior has red highlights, while the inside seat coverings have red stitching. The alloy wheels also have N Line badging visible on them. Compared to the ones on the existing i20 N Line, the new alloy wheel design has a more aggressive appearance. The car's other features are covered in camouflage.

When it went global, the revised i20 arrived with new 16- and 17-inch wheels with a pentagram pattern. The i20 facelift, as shown in the spy photographs, features a different wheel design from the one presently offered on the India-spec i20 and i20 N Line and the global model.

Despite being heavily concealed, it is clear that the i20 facelift has redesigned bumpers with cuts and creases and updated headlights and taillights. Apart from the inclusion of ambient lighting, the i20 facelift that was unveiled for international markets did not get any significant interior alterations, and this may also be the case in India.

Internal Tech

We could glance inside, and there was a new steering wheel with paddle shifters. Paddle shifters are currently standard on the i20 N Line but will be seen for the first time on the normal i20.

Hyundai has updated the i20 in several countries with ADAS technology and cosmetic changes. These include assistance with avoiding collisions up front, lane following, blind spots, and more. The i20 makeover for India has yet to be announced, although these systems are starting to gain traction in our market. On the other hand, the Creta facelift, which is anticipated to go on sale next year, would most likely feature ADAS technology.

Powertrain And Specifications

Depending on the engine, the Hyundai i20 is available with either a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 1.0-liter direct injection petrol engine connected to a five-speed manual, a CVT automatic, an iMT or a DCT automatic. The 1.0-liter turbocharged engine generates 120 horsepower and is the one that comes standard on the i20 N Line. The 1.2-liter NA engine delivers 83 horsepower with the manual gearbox but 88 horsepower with the CVT. Both engine choices should remain on the updated vehicle.

Launch And Price

After the Exter micro-SUV is introduced to the Indian market, the refreshed Hyundai i20 is anticipated to go on sale. The current-generation i20's price range is Rs 7.46 lakh to Rs 11.88 lakh, while the i20 N Line's price range is Rs 12.31 lakh.
