February 22nd, 2025

Toyota, among the world's best automobile makers, is ready to increase its footprint in India with the introduction of two long-awaited SUVs this year. The company is going to launch the new-gen Fortuner and the Land Cruiser Prado, both of which are likely to provide major overhauls as far as design, performance, and technology are concerned.

These models will cover different segments of the SUV segment, whereas the Fortuner will target the premium SUV segment, and the Land Cruiser Prado will be an off-road luxury vehicle. These vehicles will come with hybrid technology as a testament to Toyota's dedication to sustainability and creation.

New Toyota Fortuner Diesel Mild-Hybrid

Toyota Fortuner Diesal

Toyota Fortuner has remained a market leader in the Indian SUV market for years and enjoys a reputation for having great design, strong performance, and reliability. Toyota will introduce the New Generation Fortuner in 2025, with light hybrid technology and tremendous fuel efficiency and performance improvement. The new generation of Fortuners will further establish their position as India's top-selling SUV.

Engine and Performance

The 2025 Fortuner will be powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain. The hybrid will deliver an unforgettable 201 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque, reinforcing the SUV's image for robust performance. The mild-hybrid system will contribute not just to fuel efficiency but also improve throttle response and smooth driving. The inclusion of idle start-stop technology will also reduce emissions and fuel consumption, hence making the Fortuner more environmentally friendly.

Platform and Design

The new Fortuner will ride on Toyota's TNGA-F (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, which is famous for its cruelty, lightness, and better handling. In the design department, the 2025 Forton will see a sharp front grille, thin LED headlights, and minor but efficient modifications in the form of an enlarged external design. The interior will also be upgraded with high-end material, a contemporary dashboard design, and sophisticated infotainment features.

Safety and Technology

Safety has never been a concern for Toyota, and the new Fortuner will not be an exception. It will have a vehicle strength control system, hydraulic steering, and refined driver assistance systems (ADAS). ADAS safety features of adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking will make safety even better while making the ride feel more comfortable. The Fortuner will also have plenty of convenience features in the form of a touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone charging, and a host of airbags.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

Though the Fortuner serves the premium SUV market, the Land Cruiser Prado targets luxury SUV purchasers who want a combination of extravagance and off-road performance. Toyota will launch the Land Cruiser Prado in India in the fourth quarter of 2025. This premium SUV will be retailed as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU), with the premium cost to match, i.e., anywhere between Rs. 1.7 crore to Rs. 1.95 crore.

Engine and Performance

Land Cruiser Prado's Indian market engine specification will be finally announced, but it will be imported with a 2.8-litre diesel engine coupled with a 48V mild hybrid system, similar to its setup that is on offer in markets such as the European and Japanese ones.

This is a happy medium between efficiency and power and is ideal for both city travels and off-roading. The Prado can be had in other parts of the world like North America and the Middle East with a 2.4-litre petrol-hybrid unit, but as of now it is not sure if this would be offered here in India.

The Prado will be fitted with an 8-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth and quick shifting of gears. Options such as four-wheel drive, multi-terrain select, and crawl control will transform the four-wheel-drive SUV into a full-fledged off-road bruiser to handle any terrain with utmost ease.

Design and Features

The Land Cruiser Prado will have a stunning and aggressive appearance with square LED headlights, a large front grille, and 20-inch black alloy wheels. The SUV's exterior will convey an image of power and sophistication, while the interior will deliver a luxurious and comfortable experience.

Some of its key features include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and an electrically adjustable driver's seat. Prado also comes with wireless charging, third- and second-row aircon vents, and a luxury audio system so everyone gets to have their best ride ever.

Conclusion

Toyota's next-generation Fortuner and Land Cruiser Prado are bound to splash in India's automotive market. Equipped with mild-hybrid technology and sophisticated characteristics, Fortuner Premium will remain the ruler of the market, and the land Cruel is going to appeal to buyers of the Prado Luxury SUV who will wish to combine luxury and off-road. Both models symbolize Toyota's innovation, stability, and commitment to customer satisfaction. Through this launch, Toyota is ready to further strengthen its leadership in India's competitive SUV segment and set new benchmarks for performance, safety and luxury.
