Fortuner Rivals are doing their best to overcome the legendary, unbeatable Toyota SUV. SUVs like MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan, Isuzu MUX, Hyundai Tucson, etc have outnumbered the Fortuner in terms of their feature list. In fact, the most advanced currently, is the Gloster with not only better features but, more space, more power, etc. But, there is one such SUV that has been in the backstage still, contains the courage to go against Fortuner, and it is the Jeep Meridian, which recently, got its updated facelift launched in India at just 24 lakhs.
The 2025 Jeep Meridian goes through no design change whatsoever, as this is just a minor facelift update. But, in terms of technology, the Merdian has seen some interesting bits coming in -
The Meridian was lacking the ADAS features since its launch like the Fortuner is still. Being a 40 lakh SUV, every potential buyer was expecting a basic feature like ADAS to be offered in the SUV. Well, now it gets Level 2 ADAS on offer, and here are all the features listed -
Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go
Intelligent Speed Assist
Forward Collision Mitigation Braking with Warning
Lane Departure & Keep Assist
Traffic Sign Recognition
Surround View Assist
High Beam Assist
Blind Spot Detection
Driver Attention Alert
The ADAS has made the 2025 Meridian have the requisites, like a Windshield Camera, Front Radar on the bumper, etc.
This package includes features like a 10.25-inch Instrument Cluster and a 10.1-inch Infotainment screen with Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay connectivity. Moreover, a Wireless Charger and multiple USB charging ports throughout the cabin - All of these features are already present in the SUV.
The new ones are - Automatic SOS Call, Remote Engine Start/Stop with AC Preconditioning, Alexa Home to Vehicle, Smart Watch Extension, Vehicle Health Report with Alert, Connected One-Box Navigation Search with Live Traffic-Weather-Incident Updates, and OTA Firm updates for the Software. Most of these features can be operated remotely through Jeep’s app.
The Meridian receives a new 5-seater configuration that has helped the SUV lower its prices. It still, continues to have its 7-seater configuration.
Other than these updates, the Meridian sees no change at all.
The Meridian follows the Compass’ styling with an extended design from the C-pillar to fit in the third row of seats. The Meridian does offer a few differentiating factors in the design language compared to the Compass. It gets a different lower front bumper styling with a clean and long side profile. The Rear Profile is a 90-degree cut and gets sleek LED Tail lamps with Electric Boot opening/closing.
On the inside, the Meridian offers a plush experience with Suede/Vegan Leather accents and premium material quality. It gets powered Driver’s and Co-Driver’s seats, Dual-zone Climate Control, Ventilated Front seats, a 9-speaker Audio System, etc.
The Meridian also offers plenty of boot space with 170 l - when all Seats are in use, 481 l - when the third row of seats is folded, and 824 l - when the second and third row is folded. On the other hand, the 5-seater variant offers 670 l of space.
The Meridian runs on 18-inch Overland-varinat’s alloy wheels that have been made standard in the facelifted version.
The Jeep is powered by only one Diesel engine that is shared across various other SUVs in the Indian market - Tata Harrier/Safari and MG Hector/Hector Plus.
It is a 2.0 L Turbocharged Diesel engine that produces 170 hp and 350 Nm torque. It is made available in both Automatic and Manual Transmission with an ARAI-claimed efficiency of 16.25 km/L.
The Meridian’s lineup is divided into four simple variants with their Automatic iterations -
