The Toyota Fortuner Legender has been India's favorite SUV across generations. Extremely popular for its daunting looks, powerful engine, and durable performance, the Fortuner Legender has remained the market leader in full-size SUVs. Toyota is now looking to bring a new idea to this old car, equipping it with newer technology and improved efficiency on Indian roads.
What's New in the Fortuner Legender Concept?
The Fortuner concept for the next generation is modeled after the Fortuner Legender but with some amazing tweaks:
1. Daring Exterior Design
Sporty Body Kit – The vehicle is more muscular and wider in shape and has a sporty body kit.
20-inch Golden Alloy Wheels – Larger wheels in a shiny gold color set it apart.
LED Lighting – Slim LED headlamps and rear lights make it look trendy.
2. Advanced Interior Features
Since it is the Thai model, it does come with some extra features the Indian Fortuner does not yet:
360-degree Camera – Helps with parking and tight spaces.
Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) – Lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control for extra safety while driving.
Large Touchscreen Infotainment System – Extra connectivity and entertainment features.
3. The Same Powerful Engine
Under the hood, the Fortuner Thai Concept uses the same 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that we Indians have. However, Toyota is planning to launch a mild hybrid variant later for better fuel efficiency.
The Fortuner Legender in India comes with a high-performance 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine, producing 204 PS power and 420 Nm of torque with the manual trim. The engine comes with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, providing smooth and sensitive driving.
Toyota will introduce a mild-hybrid version of the Fortuner that will deliver better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
The Fortuner Legender is not just famous for its luxurious features and advanced technology. Some of the best features are:
Exterior Appearance: An Aggressive front grille, air-spooned LED headlamps, and sport alloy wheels all join hands in bestowing it with its commanding look.
Interior Luxury: Luxurious interior with leather upholstery, mood lights, and a top-of-the-line sound system.
Safety Features: With multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, and much more.
Infotainment System: Massive touchscreen system with smartphone connectivity, navigation, and voice command.
The new model will drive these specifications to even greater heights of technology and luxury for Indian customers.
This is not the basic model, which is specific to India, so it does have some extra cool things. It has a 360-degree camera system that allows you can see around the vehicle completely.
It also features Level-2 ADAS, which has safety features like automatic emergency braking and cruise control with automatic speed limit. The touchscreen inside is bigger as well. And there are white-colored trim pieces on the inside door panels, which provide it with a more sophisticated look.
The Thai market Toyota Fortuner Legender carries over the same robust 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine. It is capable of producing up to 200 bhp of power and 500 Nm of torque. It features a 6-speed automatic transmission, and as such the ride is smooth and powerful.
The Fortuner Legender is currently on sale in India from March 2025 with prices starting at ₹44.11 lakh for the 4x2 automatic model and reaching up to ₹48.09 lakh for the 4x4 automatic model. A new 4x4 manual model has also been introduced at ₹46.36 lakh.
Although the price for this new concept model has not been announced officially, it will be competently priced for this segment with more features and strength.
To date, Toyota has not officially announced whether or not this very same Thai concept will come to India. But here is what we know:
