Curvv EV’s design was officially revealed recently in Tata Motors’ UK facility. It showed us some exclusive design features the Curvv will get once launched. However, the cars on show were not real ones, as they were made especially for exhibition purposes. In fact, their interiors were also blacked out. But Tata Motors has released a new TVC, which reveals the completion of the Tata Curvv.ev design and the SUV going off-road. Here are all the details we have found in this TVC.
The Curvv.ev will be positioned above the Nexon.ev and below the upcoming Harrier.ev. The segment, which it will enter is called the Midsize SUV or Compact SUV segment of EVs. The ICE version of this segment is currently ruled by the Hyundai Creta for which the Tata Curvv ICE will be launched alongside the Curvv EV.
The Curvv EV will rival the likes of the MG ZS EV. As of now, this segment of Midsize Electric SUVs has just one contender with the upcoming Curvv but, in the future, we will get to see a lot more - Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX, Honda Elevate EV, etc.
The Curvv EV will get the same design featured in the Curvv ICE but, with some EV bits added. The Curvv EV’s front will not have any sort of Grille being an EV. Instead of that, it will have a body-colored panel with the Tata logo. Lower down will be filled with a silverish design treatment like in the Nexon EV.
A long LED DRL will be placed on top with a Battery-indicating feature (will work when put on charge). At both ends of the DRL, Indicators will also be included, which will have a sequential turning feature. The LED Headlamp housing will be similar to the one in the Nexon EV. It will have one primary LED projector with Two LED Fog lamps.
The Side of the Curvv will be the main highlight of its design language. The sloping roofline post B-pillar will be first in its segment. It will also have Plush door handles like the XUV 7OO, which will also make the Curvv EV, the first Tata car to have this feature. The Curvv will run on big, stylish 18 inch alloy wheels. These wheels will have Aero inserts to prevent air drag for better efficiency.
At the Rear, the Curvv will have a long LED Brake light, which is sleek and sexy in terms of its looks. It will also have two minimal spoiler treatments.
The Interiors of the Curvv EV can be seen for a very short period in the TVC. But, we can still confirm what will come inside the cabin of the Curvv EV. Based on the image, we can see that the interiors of the Curvv EV will be inspired by the Nexon and Harrier’s interiors.
At first, we will get a big 12.3 inch screen from the Nexon.ev and Harrier / Safari. This screen will be very crisp and clear in terms of its interface and usability. This screen will host all of the features, like Arcade.ev, 360-degree camera system, JBL sound modes, Battery details, etc. We can also see a sleek Ambient lighting running between the dashboard.
Then we will also get a 10.25 inch screen for the Instrument Cluster, which will be taken from almost all of the latest Tata cars. This screen will also display navigational maps from the Infotainment system.
Next, we will get a four-spoke Steering wheel with a digitally illuminated Tata logo. This steering unit will be sourced from the elder SUVs - Harrier and Safari. We can also see the Pygital control panel below the Infotainment screen. We can also see an automated IRVM on the roof around which the SOS and Sunroof buttons will be placed.
Moreover, there will also be these features that cannot be seen in the TVC - Electric seats, Electric Tailgate (maybe), Four Adjustable Headrests, ADAS - 17 Features, Drive modes, Electronic Parking Brake with Auto hold, Ventilated seats, etc.
The Curvv will underpin the Acti.ev Platform. This platform was first showcased in the previously launched Punch.ev, it was also the first Tata.ev to host this new platform for all the upcoming Tata-born EVs. The same platform will be widened and lengthened for the Curvv EV to fit a bigger battery.
The battery unit in the Curvv EV will be larger than that of Nexon.ev. The Nexon packs a 40 kWh battery pack, on the other hand, the Curvv will have a 55 kWh battery pack, which could deliver a real-world driving range of almost 500 km.
The Charging point of the Curvv EV will be placed on the nose at the front. It will have an opening and closing feature, too.
We believe that Tata Motors could give a Two motor setup in the Curvv EV. This will make the Curvv EV an AWD EV, which will also be the first for Tata Motors if offered.
The Launch date of the Curvv EV is August 7, 2024. Initially, the Curvv EV will be launched, and then the Curvv ICE.
The Price of the Curvv will be much more expensive than that of the Curvv ICE. The Curvv EV could start from ₹17 lakhs and go up to ₹22 lakhs.
