It has been 2 - 3 years now, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are working in an alliance in India and globally as well. Products from both the brands are being shared with each other, for instance -
Though these three cars were already on sale before the partnership between Suzuki and Toyota came into existence, but recently, they have also launched few cars which were made under collaboration with each other, like -
And yet another Maruti Suzuki is about to be rebadged with the Toyota’s logo. This time it is Fronx’s turn.
Few days ago, Toyota Kirloskar Motors’ new registration details were leaked. The leaked image showed that, Toyota this time has registered a trademark for the name Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. And as per our presumptions, this time Toyota might rebadge the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with its logo. So, let’s run through the details of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and see what we can expect in the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx was first unveiled in the 2023 Auto Expo, then after, it was launched in the month of April, 2023.
The design language of the Fronx is beautiful. It has curves with the right amount of striking lines which gives it a nice pleasant shape. The Grand Vitara fascia which has been shrunk down and used in the Fronx which really makes it look like its younger brother. The side has nothing but a clean look. The rear of the car consists of a connected tail light which has the 3D effect in it, well following the trend! It does make itself stand out in today’s world where brands are mostly leaning towards rugged boxy SUV design. It looks attractive too with the colour options it is being offered with.
We can expect a similar body-shape, though Toyota would definitely redesign its front fascia to distinguish the Taisor from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It will consist of an angular Toyota grille with chunky Toyota Logo to fit itself in the typical Toyota SUV traits. According to our presumptions, the side of the vehicle might remain unchanged as the other rebadged Maruti cars under the Toyota hood have majorly redesigned its front fascia and rear. Though Toyota will definitely change the Alloy wheel design and might bring in some striking sharp alloy design for the Taisor. The rear of the car will also be changed to make it look like a Toyota. Changes will be seen majorly in the tail light design and the bumper.
The Fronx is the only Maruti Suzuki car in India which somehow technically and physically has a combination which ultimately makes the engines offered feel interesting. Let me explain!
The Fronx is offered with 2 engine options, one is a traditional and very trusted 1.2 L 4 Cylinder Dual Jet engine which produces about 89 PS & 113 Nm of torque. The same engine is used in many Maruti cars like the Swift, Baleno, Dzire, WagonR, etc, and being used in so many products, it is surely one of the most trusted and very Maruti-like fuel efficient engines. But, the interesting part is not in this engine, it lies in the other one which is offered. The 1.0 Booster Jet engine which produces 100 PS & 146 Nm of torque. Now I understand that it doesn’t produce much, but remember I said it has a weird combination - technically and physically - and that makes it interesting. The car doesn’t weigh much and the engine is very punchy and sporty, hence, as the weight is less and the engine packs the punch, Wallah! The experience of driving it is great.
Not much to think about, Toyota will not make any changes in terms of the powertrain. Both, 1.2 L Dualjet & 1.0 booster jet engines will be offered with no such tuning.
Being a Maruti Suzuki at the end of the day, it will definitely have a feature-rich package. The Fronx has a lot of technological features like a Heads up Display, Automatic AC, 360 degree camera, Cruise Control, 3 - pointer seatbelt, All adjustable headrests, etc.
Each and every feature offered in the Fronx will also be offered in the Taisor as well with no such change.
So, these were some predicted details which we think the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor would get. The launch of the Taisor could be expected in the coming few months ( mostly the festive season ).
