Mahindra's CEO shares BE.05 Electric's interior first look.

June 11th, 2023

Last year in August, Mahindra unveiled its electric-oriented SUV and created two sub-brands for its EV SUVs named the XUV, which included the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9, and the BE, which included the BE.05, BE.07, and the BE.09. At the time of their unveiling Mahindra had clearly provided a roadmap for the launch of the BE cars.

Exterior Design

Lately, a BE.05 test mule was spotted on roads, indicating the determination of Mahindra to launch the BE SUVs on the road. The image gives us a peek at the futuristic interior of the SUV. The image was provided to Rushlane by Mahindra’s CEO, Rajesh Jejulkar. These images were clicked at a recent Chennai event where Mahindra’s leadership was driving the SUV.

In terms of design, the Mahindra BE.05 seems to have a futuristic and “quite ahead of its time” look. It gathers social attention through its front fascia, where the SUV gets massive C-shaped LED DRLs. Another highlight is its body paneling, and it doesn’t get the smooth panel finishes like the other SUVs instead gets a lot of cuts and creases embedded in it, which gives it an aerodynamic and aggressive F-15 look.

Interior Cues and Features

The BE.05 is expected to have roomy interiors with dimensions measuring 4370 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, and 1635 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2775 mm, which can fit five people adequately. In terms of features, the BE.05 is going to get a primarily mounted touchscreen infotainment system along with a digital instrument cluster, premium sound system, wireless charging capability, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, leather upholstery, dual climate control. The BE.05 will also have embedded 5G capability so that users can access new features via the Internet.

Regarding safety, the SUV will comply with standards written by global NCAP and include structural soundness, rigid chassis, and necessary passenger airbags. Mahindra also provides the BE.05 with the latest state-of-the-art ADAS technology to improve driving experience and safety.

The Mahindra BE.05 will be based on the INGLO platform. Regarding the battery, options will include a 60 to 80 kWh battery and a range of 450km. All Mahindra BEVs will support fast charging with a 175 kW fast charger giving the user the convenience to charge their vehicle up to 80% in less than 30 minutes of charging., this will eliminate the user’s worrying about waiting for their cars to charge up.

Mahindra will offer rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive formats for its BE.05 SUV, producing a power output of 228-282 BHP and 335-389 BHP, respectively. Mahindra claims it can do 0-100 km/h in less than 5-6 seconds.

Launch And Rivalry

Regarding its launch, Mahindra will launch its XUV.e8 before the BE.08, which will go on sale in December 2024, so the BE.05 can be expected around a year later, in October 2025. Similarly, the XUV.e9 will debut in April 2025, following the launch of the BE.07 in October 2026. The EV SUV BE.05 will compete with the likes of theupcoming Tata Curvv, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV upon its launch in October of 2025.
