5-door Mahindra Thar interior spied with Sunroof and 10-inch screen

December 11th, 2023

Mahindra Thar 5-door is a car, which in fact, is the most anticipated one throughout the whole Industry. Everyone is excited about that launch, and of course, why shouldn’t they be? Thar 3-door was itself a huge hit by Mahindra, even though it had a lot of misses here and there, it still is loved by all the Indians. So, why wouldn’t people be excited for a type of Thar that happens to be more practical? Recently, one of our carversal pro (@jb_jugantor) spotted the interiors of the Thar 5-door, and there is a lot to discuss about the Thar 5-door. Thus, let us talk about this today: 5-door Mahindra Thar interior spied with Sunroof and 10-inch screen.

New Steering wheel (From XUV700 and Scorpio N)

The Thar 3-door has the typical Mahindra steering or we can also say the previous generation of Mahindra Steering wheels. The thing that needs to be stated is that the steering wheel is basic compared to all the new Mahindra cars, like the XUV700 or Scorpio N

But, with the help of this spy shot, we can notice a new steering wheel, which is exactly similar to those on the cars mentioned above. This steering wheel is very classy and also has an attractive shape to itself. It packs a squarish housing for the Horn, which by the way, also holds the Mahindra logo. The steering wheel also has enough space for plenty of buttons for easy navigation through the features given on the screens.

Roof-mounted Speakers

As a part of Mahindra’s design fashion, it is very obvious that the Thar 5-door will have a pair of speakers mounted on the roof. We saw it in the Scorpio N, and also in the XUV700.

But, there happens to be something different in the 5-door Thar. The roof-mounted speakers on the Thar 5-door are different than any other roof-mounted speakers in a Mahindra car.

We can see, that the roof-mounted speakers on the Scorpio N and the XUV700 kind of extrude out from the surface of the roof, which also at times looks a bit odd. Whereas, on the Thar 5-door we can see roof-mounted speakers have been pushed inside and made them level with the surface of the roof. Plus, they have also given a nice premium touch by adding a shiny metal covering for the speakers.

New 10-inch Infotainment screen

Currently, the Thar 3-door has a 7-inch Infotainment system that runs on the older Mahindra software that was in use. But in the new Thar 5-door, Mahindra has not only brought a new screen but also made it bigger.

Even though this new screen has been covered, we can still assume that most probably, it will have a 10-inch unit, whose software will be powered by the new ADRENOX . We also assume that this new software will tweaked to be useful for the Thar’s off-road usage.

Lots of quick-use Handy buttons

Like the Mahindra Thar 3-door, the Thar 5-door will also have plenty of quick-use handy buttons. Even after the addition of a bigger and much-improved screen, the Thar 5-door will have a set of quick-use buttons placed below it. We can also see these sets of buttons throughout the dashboard, and of course, all of them have different purposes.

Still, it is very acceptable and also a nice addition, as nowadays, most car makers are going with a button-less approach to make their vehicles look futuristic from the inside. This ultimately, makes the usage impractical and risky at times, as you will have to take a look every time you need to use a feature.

A regular-sized Sunroof

Then comes the most interesting part, which is the addition of the Sunroof in a Thar. We have seen plenty of illegal modifications, where people try to cut the roof of the 3-door Thar and add a sunroof into it. Well, no need to do that now.

The Thar 5-door will have a sunroof to offer, of course, in the Hard Top model. This sunroof, as we can see, is a regular-sized small sunroof, and has its operative buttons placed on the Front Reading Lamp area.

New Power window switch position

In the 3-door Thar, as we just have two operational Power windows, the switches for them have been placed beside the Hand Brake, and the usual spot for the switches has been covered up by a small storage space.

But in the 5-door Thar, we can see that Mahindra has moved the switches on to their regular place, as the 5-door Thar will have four operational power windows.

Rest everything looks the same as to the Thar 3-door

Other than these point-outs, rest every single bit of the vehicle looks the same as the Thar 5-door. As we can see the dashboard, and the overall layout of the interior are very identical to the one in the 3-door Thar.
