Volvo has finally launched a major facelift of its flagship SUV - the XC90. This update was a much-needed update on this SUV, as it was consistently failing in terms of sales numbers and overall brand value. This 2025 Volvo XC90 Facelift brings in a long list of changes ranging from its exterior design that has been sophisticated, new advanced features and pieces of equipment added for better appeal and value quotient, and a new Cabin with more opulence and luxury on offer. 

Why is Volvo falling Worldwide?

Today, Volvo is the world’s most underrated car brand with some of the best SUVs, Sedans, Wagons, etc in its line-up of cars. Volvo’s state in India is also no different, with the changed approach the consumers, brands like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc end up attracting more buyers. 

To some extent, we can also blame Volvo as a brand because it did not really update its vehicles with respect to the market needs and wants. Most of their cars carried on having the same-old design with the same features (though being updated with the important ones now and then) which made them being overlooked by the buyers. 

Even after having such issues, almost all of the Volvo cars were not really as old as they sounded, specifically the XC90. The overall equation of the XC90 was on the positive side with a lot of practicality, convenience, space, and comfort. But, as we said, the competition's extra-premium feature offering technique snatched all the eyeballs from the XC90. 

2025 Volvo XC90 design 

The design of the 2025 XC90 Facelift has received more sophistication with a clean yet beautiful look. The front grille, for starters, has got a new design by leaving behind the old slat-design language. Now, it gets a more premium and clean look with the help of diagonal lines sort of meeting in between where the logo lies. The Headlamp gets a revised longer Thor’s Hammer-shaped DRL with LED beams around it. It also gets 6 Parking sensors on the front with Headlamp washers. The front Radar for the ADAS has been hidden lower down in the bumper with the assistance of Cameras behind the windshield.

On the side profile, we have got bigger shoes - 21-inch alloy wheels with a different design. These wheels are wrapped using Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season rubber of 275/45 section. The wheel claddings are very minimal and have been given body-colored treatment. On the other hand, the wheel arches are minimal, too, as it does not need anything to enhance its already massive road presence. The mirrors with the camera underneath them and the window area are kept the same in terms of their size and design. Moreover, an interesting about the side profile is that the quarter panel or the Third-row window has also been given defoggers. 

The Rear profile is also almost the same with slightly revised Tail lamps that still, continue its traditional vertical placement. A set of 6 Parking sensors with a rear defogger and wiper can be seen. Not much has changed neither added on the rear except all of this.

2025 Volvo XC90 Interiors

The 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift has been given a new addition in terms of the cabin upholsteries - Bio-attributed Nordico and Recycled Premium Herring Bone Weave textile. This upholstery gives the XC90 an upper hand in the use of recycled materials in the cabin. We can see the use of these materials all over the dashboard, the seats, and the cabin. 

To speak of feature offerings - The 2025 XC90 gets a new 11.2-inch Infotainment screen with new software (interface) & built-in Google Maps, Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay with a 10-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, Electronic Parking Barke with Auto Hold, a 12.3-inch Instrument Cluster with Map display, Steering Mounted Controls, Cooling/Heating Ventilated Front Seats, a Panoramic sunroof, a Wireless Charger with C-type Charging Ports, two big Cup Holders with ability to hold small diameter cups/cans/bottles, Electrically Adjustable Seats with Memory function, Electric Boot with Gesture opening, an Auto-Dimming IRVM, etc. 

Secondly, as everyone is moving forward with tech, most of the car brands are including every feature operation in the Infotainment screen itself, further getting rid of buttons. But, the XC90 proves to be a true Volvo because it offers a few buttons to operate a few things. The XC90 also gets a crystal-like new Drive selector with a cubical engine start/stop knob in the center console. 

The Seats of the XC90 remain stylish with their design. The front row of seats gets extra thigh support that is electronically operated. The XC90 gets a total of three seating configurations - 5,6, and 7 with all adjustable headrests and an armrest for the middle row. Moreover, with all the 7 seats in use, there is a usable boot space of more than 310 liters. 

2025 Volvo XC90 Powertrain 

The 2025 XC90 facelift will get the same Petrol engine as the pre-facelift XC90 in India - the 2.0 L Drive-E Turbocharged, 4-cylinder Petrol Engine producing 300 hp and 420 Nm torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed Automatic Gearbox that channels the power in all 4 wheels making it an AWD. 

2025 Volvo XC90 India Launch date & Price Details 

This new XC90 will take a while to come to the Indian shores. We believe that Volvo might launch the 2025 XC90 by February-April 2025 in India, as the worldwide production of the XC90 will start in late 2024. 

The Price of the XC90 will increase significantly in the Indian market. Currently, it is priced at ₹96.50 lakhs. So, our expectations state the new prices could start from ₹1 Cr+.
